🧭 About Me

I’m Trenton McClellan, a U.S. Navy veteran and electro-mechanical technician with a strong foundation in electrical systems, digital control infrastructure, and networked technologies.

During my service as a Gas Turbine Specialist Electrical (GSE2) aboard the USS America (LHA-6), I maintained and troubleshot the ship’s Machinery Control System (MCS) — a networked digital control and monitoring platform that functioned as its own onboard server. My responsibilities included performing system backups to physical media, cleaning and calibrating Data Acquisition Units (DAUs), maintaining network nodes, and resolving communication faults between devices, sensors, and motor controllers.

I routinely reflashed firmware, repaired MCS consoles and displays, replaced network interface cards, and ensured reliable communication between engineering spaces and the ship’s Central Control Station (CCS). This work demanded a deep understanding of electrical systems, network architecture, and the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software faults under tight operational timelines.

After my military service, I worked as a Senior Stationary Service Technician at Plug Power, where I maintained hydrogen-powered systems and supported critical energy infrastructure across multiple locations.

I’m now advancing into cybersecurity, leveraging my background in systems reliability, network troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving to protect and strengthen the digital systems that power the modern world. I’m currently progressing toward a degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance at Western Governors University (WGU), building the technical foundation to transition into the IT and security field.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about continuous learning, building hands-on projects in my home lab, fitness, and exploring ways technology can empower efficiency and independence.
